Musharraf Ali Farooqi is an author, novelist and translator. He has published THE STORY OF A WIDOW (Knopf Canada/ Picador India) and THE COBBLER’S HOLIDAY OR WHY ANTS DON’T WEAR SHOES (A Neal Porter Book/Roaring Brook Press). His internationally acclaimed translation of THE ADVENTURES OF AMIR HAMZA (Modern Library) was the first translation of a major Urdu epic. The 24-volume translation of HOSHRUBA is his latest undertaking. Wesleyan University Press Poetry Series will publish his translation of contemporary Urdu poet Afzal Ahmed Syed selection ROCOCO AND OTHER WORLDS in Spring 2010.
